

The refractive index, which is a dimensionless number that describes how light, or any other radiation, propogates through a particular medium. Borosilicate glass has a refractive index number almost identical to vegetable oil, so it should disappear when submerged. If a piston is displacing liquid, how is it disappearing at the same time?
